Winter is in full freezing effect here in PA, so I thought what better way to try to stay warm than to think about where the perfect vacation destination is.
Even though my family and I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to many amazing sunny vacation destinations, the one place that we find ourselves consistent repeat visitors of is the beautiful island of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
One of the top reasons that you should book a vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico (especially if you have yet to vacation there) is because the weather is warm all year round. San Juan does not have actual seasons, which makes it a perfect vacation destination because any time of year is the best time to take a trip there.
San Juan tops my list as a perfect vacation destination because you do not need a passport to travel there and it is only a direct flight away (depending on what airport you fly out of). This is a huge plus, especially if you want to go on a quick island getaway, or are traveling with kids. I call it the no fuss perfect island vacation, because I know that when we travel there I do not have to worry about passports or long connecting flights. My husband and I found such a great deal one time that we actually spontaneously flew to San Juan to spend a much needed, kid-free weekend together in the sun!
I love the fact that San Juan is known for being one of the most accessible and affordable beach getaways in the Caribbean. We have found some really amazing flight deals to San Juan through Jet Blue. Um, under $1100 for 4 round trip direct flights from NYC to San Juan, Puerto Rico, can you say HUGE SCORE?
San Juan’s beaches are all stunning with their beautiful blue waters and miles of sand to relax on, but what I love most is how unique they all are. For example, Condado Beach is more of a trendy type of beach scene, whereas Ocean Park Beach offers a more laid back vibe, with less crowds, and beachfront restaurants. The best beach in San Juan is Escambron Beach, as it is the most picturesque beach in San Juan. Escambron Beach is protected by a coral reef and it has soft golden sand. You can indulge in snorkeling and scuba diving here.
There are many luxury beachfront resorts, especially along Condado Beach. My family’s favorite resort to stay at when we are in San Juan is the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.
Besides this being a fabulous beach front resort, it is in walking distance to so many amazing places to eat, shopping and nightlife. We absolutely love the fact that we can walk a few blocks in the sun each morning from our resort to one of our favorite breakfast places in the world, Pinky’s.
Now it is not only the beaches and beautiful weather that keeps me calling San Juan a perfect vacation destination, but also the beautiful cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, museums, historic landmarks and the culture. When my family and I vacationed in San Juan last Thanksgiving I was pleasantly surprised by just how much my kids enjoyed the culture and did not want to leave Old San Juan. They were intrigued with both the beauty and the history. I recommend that you do not miss visiting, Fort San Cristobal, Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, and Paseo La Princesa.
Have you ever traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico?
What did you like or maybe even dislike about it?
We are heading back very shortly, and I have to admit that I am beyond excited for some family fun in the island sun!
