Polished nails are something that I absolutely love the look of but feel like it is just too much of a chore to actually do. In the past it seemed like every time I tried to paint my nails on my own I either ended up with polish all over my hands, marks in the polish because I was too impatient to let them properly dry, or chipped polish by the very next day (what a waste).
Now don’t get me wrong, I love to get manicures but honestly who has the time (or the money) to get them regularly.
Since both my birthday and anniversary were in October, I was lucky enough to have gotten two manicures back to back, and I have to tell you that until then I had forgotten just how much I loved the look of painted nails. I found myself often staring at my bright and shiny nails, since they no longer looked blank, uneven and ragged. I admired the fact that with paint on my nails they didn’t seem short and plain, instead I felt like the fresh paint made me feel a little more put together each day.
Once my nail polish started to chip off after my second manicure, I realized that I had to hurry up and figure out a way to easily get that salon quality freshly painted look for less money, and also simply right at home, because I was hooked!
I started to do a little research on long wearing polishes and I discovered the new Essie Gel Couture line. This innovative line of nail polish, which is available in 42 polish shades, offers up to 14 days of luxurious wear and instant gel-like shine, with no UV lamp needed. Sounds simple enough even for a person like me who has failed at almost every attempt to paint my own nails.
How To Get The Look Of Gel Nails at Home With Essie Gel Couture
First, I decided that for my very first Essie Gel Couture nail painting session I would go bold, so I purchased a bottle of a bright fuchsia like color called, Sit Me In The Front Row, along with the Essie Gel Couture topcoat.
Next, I removed all traces of old polish and quickly trimmed, filed and buffed my nails to create a blank canvas.
Then I took a deep breath, tried to steady my hand as much as possible and starting painting, as no base coat is needed with the Essie Gel Couture polishes. The paint was super easy to apply and not messy at all.
I have to say that the brand new curve-hugging brush in the Essie Gel Couture bottle does allow for the most perfect color coverage. I didn’t even have to clean up any polish from around the edges of my nails or hands!
I applied two coats of the Essie Gel Couture color on each hand and then waited less than five minutes for the polish to dry before I applied the Essie Gel Couture topcoat (that special topcoat is the most important part).
I admit that I was shocked by the fact that the Essie Gel Couture topcoat had my nails looking shiny, dry to the touch and almost salon quality, with no UV lamp needed, in only about 3-5 minutes.
I am happy to say that this Essie Gel Couture polish and topcoat definitely exceeded my expectations.
One of the most fabulous things about the Essie Gel Couture system is that there is no UV lamp needed in order to achieve long-lasting nail color with a gel-like shine.
Now my only problem is figuring out what color to buy next, since I literally want to purchase them all.
