I have to admit that before we had our Labradoodle, Jaxie, I would kind of roll my eyes when people would say that their dog was like family. Well after raising Jaxie for a few years now I can tell you that she is not like family, she IS family, and we would do anything to ensure her safety.
One of the most fun things about Jaxie is that she is always up for a road trip. She especially loves a good car ride when she realizes we are heading to PetSmart. I don’t mean to brag but along with being ridiculously cute, Jaxie is also a very smart dog. Even she knows that PetSmart is a one-stop shop for all of your pet’s needs.
We recently visited PetSmart and decided to bring the whole family along on our shopping trip. I wanted to check out some new food options for Jaxie and the kids wanted to see the seasonal merchandise, toys and treats, as they love to help spoil her.
Shopping at PetSmart is always such an enjoyable experience thanks to the friendly staff. Jaxie really loves when the staff and even some of the customers stop to pet her while admiring her beautiful curls. The store is always so bright, clean and inviting, which makes it easy to find the pet items that I am searching for. I appreciate that PetSmart proudly displays the current store sales and deals on products right within the aisles. Jaxie’s favorite part of shopping at PetSmart is when we checkout and the staff asks if they can give her a dog treat.
I recently heard about Purina® Pro Plan® products, which are available for cats and dogs, and I wanted to purchase some for Jaxie.
This line of pet food really intrigued me since they have purpose-driven recipes that are available in grain-free or no corn, wheat or soy options to satisfy picky eaters (Jaxie), supports cognitive health and more.
I love that I can trust feeding Jaxie foods from the Purina Pro Plan line, as it is backed by a team of over 400 Purina scientists, including nutritionists, behaviorists and veterinarians. No ingredient is unnecessary, in fact everything is precisely and purposefully selected.
As soon as we arrived at PetSmart, one of the knowledgeable employees showed me the aisle where the Purina Pro Plan food for dogs was located.
There were many options, but before I made a choice, I went to the Pro Plan University website right on my smart phone. They offer education, tutorials and more all about the Pro Plan brand. The myPlan tool was super helpful in figuring out which foods would best for Jaxie to eat. Plus they offer a $5 off coupon for a bag of Purina® Pro Plan®.
The quiz that I took on the Pro Plan University helped me to determine that the Purina Pro Plan Savor line would be a perfect fit for Jaxie. Savor delivers outstanding nutrition and taste for everyday excellence. We purchased a bag of dry food along with a couple of containers of wet food. We also purchased a bag of dry food from the Bright Mind line for Jaxie to try. I love that the Bright Mind foods have a blend of brain-supporting nutrients for cognitive health.
After my kids picked out a few toys for Jaxie, we got her home so she could start enjoying her new dog food.
What we feed our pets is very important, but something else that is equally as important is their safety. With the busy holiday season upon us I want to share with you some ways to keep your dog safe.
5 Ways To Keep Your Dog Safe This Holiday Season
1. Avoid Mistletoe & Holly
When ingested, they can cause pets to suffer nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Mistletoe can cause gastrointestinal upset and cardiovascular problems.
2. Keep wires, batteries and glass or plastic ornaments away from dogs.
A wire can deliver a potentially lethal electrical shock and a punctured battery can cause burns to the mouth and esophagus, while shards of breakable ornaments can damage your pet’s mouth and digestive tract.
3. New Year’s Eve noise
When counting down to the New Year remember that noisy poppers and fireworks can terrify some pets and cause possible damage to sensitive ears.
4. No sweets
Your dog is already sweet enough, so skip the sweet treats and make sure not to feed your dog chocolate, as well as anything sweetened with xylitol.
5. Securely anchor your Christmas tree
Anchor your Christmas tree so it doesn’t tip and fall, which could cause possible injury to your dog. This will also prevent the tree water, which might contain fertilizers that can cause an upset stomach from spilling.
